  2. Both of our nephews purchased houses out of state when they were in the military. One paid $65,000 in Georgia and the other $70,000 in Texas. They are out of the military, but they kept the houses and rent them out. The one who owns the house in Georgia paid $500,000 for his home in California when he left the military. He is an air traffic controller and was hoping to get an assignment closer to his wife’s family in Mississippi because then they would be able to buy a much cheaper house.
