Oprah's Chicago Condo Now Half Price

A condo owned by talk show host extraordinaire Oprah Winfrey went on the market this past Tuesday at a slashed price of 2.8 million. Oprah initially bought the condo for $5.6 million back in 2006. For sale in 2008 and not sold, it was then for rent at $15,000 a month. I don’t know if anyone is/was renting it, but the time to unload this property is now since it’s half the price. This is a Beaux-Arts-Style building built in 1913 and designed by architect Benjamin Marshall. The condo itself has eight rooms, 4,607 square feet, is on the sixth floor, and has an address of 199 E. Lakeshore Drive.

It has three bedrooms, three full baths, two half-baths, 10-foot ceilings, two fireplaces, an inner foyer, library, solarium, formal dining room, eat-in kitchen, butler’s pantry, wine room, his and her bathrooms, and a guest suite bedroom.

But hey, Oprah Winfrey never actually lived here. She changed her mind about moving in after buying. Now that Oprah has left her talk show she spends most of her time at her $50 million dollar Mega-Mansion in California and spends time in Hawaii.

Per Chicago Tribune, Bob Goldsborough, Oprah still owns real estate in Chicagoland. She has a house in the suburb of Elmwood Park purchased for $298,000 and a house in Merrillville, Indiana.

Update: 5/31/2012: Per Curbed Chicago, Crain’s reports Oprah’s Chicago Condo is now under contract.
