Cape Cod Home Tour with A Wife in Progress
Cape Cod Home Tour – A Wife in Progress
Today’s Cape Cod Home Tour spotlights Jenna of A Wife in Progress. Jenna is a fun DIY blogger I recommend to follow. She is busy transforming her home day by day. She engages her readers and pokes a little fun at herself along the way. You can tell by the quality of her detailed tutorials with lots of before and after action, she is a serious DIYer, but she presents it in an easy to follow style all her own.
Originally from Ireland, Jenna says it was not until she and her husband Brian bought a home that she started blogging as a way to share her projects with friends and family back home. Her husband says she has DIY ADD starting and not always finishing projects. Those of us who tackle home projects can easily relate to that. I love Jenna’s home and blog and bet you will too.
Welcome inside Jenna’s Cape Cod Home Tour starting with the charming hallway entry.
CAPE COD HOME TOUR KITCHEN:
The kitchen makeover has my head swirling. When they bought the home the cabinets were dark wood with little storage and function.
The smart couple kept their kitchen makeover affordable by resurfacing some of the cabinet doors. Added some custom cabinets, oven and microwave. Plus don’t you just love the cape cottage style window above the sink? Gosh yes.
I admire their white shaker style cabinet doors with beadboard accents and love the hardware!
One of Jenna’s favorite spots and I confess mine too is the new breakfast bar. Her kitchen tour details the chairs are Uptown Parsons bar stools from Target.
They added polished Nickel industrial pendant lights over the breakfast bar. I could stay here all day she says and so could I. My own lighting dreams coincidentally are all about shiny polished Nickel style pendant lights!!
I am gushing over the mosaic backsplash colors.
If you’re budget minded you’ll be interested to know the tile is an Instant Mosaic Peel and Stick Tile system. Isn’t that amazing? I can’t tell the difference one bit. It is a real glass tile with real stone and metal with the grout being the only plastic part. She said it is easy to install, just peel and stick, except for needing to cut around outlets and the window.
CAPE COD HOME TOUR LIVING ROOM:
Traditional red brick fireplace before.
White washed brick including on a fireplace is very popular and Jenna left no stone unturned here either with a great how-to tutorial on her blog to see.
A perfect balance is struck with the comfortable chaise sectional sofa and wood coffee table accented by turquoise curtains, lamps and pillows.
CAPE COD HOME TOUR DINING ROOM:
Now I want seagrass dining room chairs. They blend nicely with the wood floor color. The board and batten wall is a DIY tutorial on A Wife in Progress if you want the how-to on it.
CAPE COD HOME TOUR BATHROOM:
New bathroom base and top from Ikea, faucet from Home Depot and floor tile is porcelain……
new glass tile backsplash!
MASTER BEDROOM:
Excellent fabric lamp in gray from Home Goods and love their mirrored bedside tables that echo….
Jenna’s awe-inspiring DIY glam floor mirror created from a $5 door mirror. Yep, she is rockin the DIY world.
MASTER HALF-BATH:
Before: A little doing it themselves in the half-bath when they first moved in was okay, but
just WOW now! See WifeinProgress for all the material details.
NURSERY:
Jenna and Brian have their first-born son and the Nursery could not be sweeter. The walls are Natural Gray by Behr at Home Depot. Baby Animal Prints by The Animal Print Shop. Table Lamp at Home Goods is spray painted. Plus there are tons more photos and a list of where to buy or how it was made on her Nursery page.
BASEMENT:
The basement is a work in progress like a lot of rooms in our homes. Another great comfy couch that is from Jordan’s Furniture, an Ikea coffee table, Home Goods pillows, and see her tour of the Basement for more details and updates.
LAUNDRY ROOM:
Laundry room before:
Laundry room after is in progress
Clever girl got to work on the laundry room floor with peel and stick hardwood planks and the difference is striking.
